Project summary
The aim of the project “Alternative means of transportation” is to raise the interest and encourage children to walk, cycle or use local transport to reduce congestion and pollution around the school area, why we should use them and how spread their uses. To motivate student to use other green means of transport such as bikes. Organise ‘walk to school’ or ‘cycle to school’ events. Learn more about the use of an environmentally-friendly means of transport such as electric cars.
Antipollution campaign will increase students and their family’s motivation to use environmentally friendly means of transport.
Through the range of learning activities, students will strengthen their language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and ICT skills, 21 st century skills.

Week 1

1.      Introduce the topic and the aim of the project(brainstorming, exit ticket, KWL chart, formulate the driving question) What can you do to prevent air pollution in your locality?
2.      Students talk about environmental problems around their living area.
3.      Students search for the information about alternative means of transportation and discuss the problems.

Improve speaking, presentation skills

v  Students complete and present the final products, how they worked, what they learned. (posters, pp presentation, leaflets).
v  Post their final work on school facebook.

Teacher asks students to name the words which are connected to the ,,transport”.  First students jot down all the words. Then read out one by one and teacher writes them on the board. After that with the help of students teacher differentiate which is green means of transport and which is not.

Discuss the topic of the project and the main concept behind the project. Think about what they already know about the subject and why it is important. Then students fill KWL chart.
In Group students discuss the questions how can this project be meaningful for them? Ask themselves “How can they do this?” “What do they need to do this?”


Students work in group think about the driving question. Write some of the options on the flip chart and stick them on the wall. Students vote and choose the best one.

Teacher checks understanding and help them to remember the new phrases and the verbs. Then checks students understanding name the means of transportation and students match the correct verbs. Also teacher gives definition and students guess the phrasal verbs and verbs.
